Dr. Ashima Makol is a consultant rheumatologist and Associate Professor of Medicine in the Division of Rheumatology at Mayo Clinic, Rochester, MN, where she chairs the Connective Tissue Disease Group and leads the Scleroderma/Raynaud’s and Capillaroscopy Clinic. After completing her medical degree at Maulana Azad Medical College in New Delhi, India, she did her internal medicine residency at Michigan State University. She came to Mayo Clinic for rheumatology fellowship, following which she joined the faculty in 2013.
She enjoys her procedural practice of MSK ultrasound and nailfold videocapillaroscopy, and is passionate about bedside teaching and patient education. Her clinical and research interests include extra-articular, particularly vascular, manifestations of rheumatic diseases, specifically scleroderma spectrum disorders and systemic vasculitides. She is actively engaged in clinical/epidemiology research and trials of Raynaud’s and scleroderma.
Outside of work, she loves being a mom to her two adorable girls and traveling with her husband. She is a foodie and keenly enjoys cooking, hiking, nature photography, dancing, and binging Bollywood movies.
