Figure 1 is a library of compelling clinical images that is constantly growing because of our users' thoughtful contributions. When you share your images, you help to grow the database and provide learning opportunities for tens of thousands of healthcare professionals.

The following Community Guidelines are here to help you understand what it means to be a member of the Figure 1 community. Please be aware that all of your activity on Figure 1 is subject to these Guidelines and our Terms of Service. This includes comments as well as public and private images.

Respect the patients.

The photos featured on Figure 1 are taken of real patients. These patients deserve to be treated with dignity and respect at all times. Apply the same ethical principles you use in your practice to what you post. Please don't write anything on Figure 1 that you wouldn't say in front of a patient.

Never include identifying patient information.

Whether you're uploading an image or posting a comment, you must never include identifying information. Please refer to our Identifiers page for a list of identifiers. Any image or comment that violates this policy will be removed. As outlined in our Terms of Service and FAQ, it is your responsibility to maintain patient privacy at all times.

Post educational captions and comments.

Figure 1 is a respectful learning environment and we encourage users to leave relevant captions and comments about the medical cases presented. This includes anything that builds a useful clinical dialogue. Do not post any content that is not conducive to maintaining a respectful learning environment. Images and comments without educational value will be removed by moderators.

Share professional images only.

Figure 1 is intended for healthcare professionals to share images of the patients in their direct clinical care. It is not intended for sharing your own medical conditions, or those of your family or friends.

Use your professional judgment.

As a Figure 1 user, you can help maintain the integrity of our community by flagging images or comments that are not in line with the spirit of these guidelines. These consist of, but are not limited to:

Be authentic.

If you are not a healthcare professional, don't misrepresent yourself as one. Figure 1 is intended for healthcare professionals to share and discuss the cases they encounter in their practice. It is not a tool for patients to post images of their own conditions. If you have a health concern, please see your physician.

Leave the images here.

Taking screenshots of the images in Figure 1 and sharing them elsewhere is a violation of our Terms of Service and the spirit of our community.

We've crafted these guidelines to ensure that everyone in the Figure 1 community can engage in meaningful educational sharing. If you don't feel that you can abide by our Community Guidelines as outlined above, Figure 1 might not be right for you.

If you have any questions or comments, we'd love to hear from you. Please feel free to email us at
